Integrative Psychotherapy
Is Psychotherapy for me?
Psychotherapy can seem daunting, especially if your are new to therapy, however please be assured that it is a safe place to talk about you and your life.
We will go at your pace and we will work together on building and trusting and authentic relationship, to enable you to feel comfortable to explore areas of your thoughts and past experiences that you may have felt scared to have explored before.
Can I have breaks in therapy?
It is not usually helpful to have long breaks in therapy, as it tends to disrupt the consistency and flow. However if your circumstances change, or if for any reason you are unable to attend for a period of time, I will work with you to try and accommodate the changes.
Is there a minimum number of sessions?
After our initial session, I often suggest that 6-8 sessions will give you a good basis upon which we can look at a realistic time frame. However this is ultimately your choice and depending on what is explored whilst in our sessions will help us determine the length of your time working with me in therapy.
What happens if I miss a session?
If you are unable to attend a session due to illness, I will try to accommodate and arrange another session for that week. However if this is not possible the full fee of £40 is still charged.
Is everything we talk about confidential?
You can be reassured that I take confidentiality very seriously. To meet the requirements of UKCP I am required to have weekly supervision whereby I may talk about our sessions. However please note that my supervisor will work under the same ethical code as I do and will not disclose any of the information discussed.
Do I have to have face to face therapy?
Face to face is my preferred method of therapy; However, I am happy to offer online sessions as an alternative.
How does therapy come to an end?
Therapy will end when you feel that you no longer wish to attend.I ask that you give 2 weeks notice to allow us time to prepare and discuss the ending, and whether it is the right time.
Is it ok if I don't really know why I am coming to therapy?
It's okay to feel confused about why you are not 'feeling yourself' or why 'things do not feel the same'.You may be experiencing a low mood or feelings of anxiety or darker emotions, all of which can feel scary.Whichever the feelings we can work through it together.
